Roman samian bowl

Samian cup sherd and 6 bowl sherds, form Dr37. S291 is a sherd from a cylindrical rouletted cup in a thin, orange/yellow Eastern Gaulish fabric. It has a fairly glossy light orange slip. Fairly early in date - possibly mid 2nd century. S294 is a bowl sherd of pink ware with a dull gloss. Below are leafy festoons with tassels, containing birds (Oswald 2247 and 2290). There is an uncertain animal (possibly a bear) in a landscape scheme. S295 is a bowl sherd of pink ware with a dull red slip. Within a plain double medallion, an 'heraldic' lion to left (Oswald 1447) S296 is a Central Gaulish Trajanic bowl sherd of an orange-pink fabric with quite a glossy orange/red slip. A neat, small ovolo with a narrow, thick rim-band and a well-marked lip. S297 is a bowl sherd of thick, hard ware with a deep orange-red glossy slip. All-over vine-leaf and tendril pattern. Tail and feet of a bird in field. S298 is a bowl sherd of quite thin light orange/pink ware with a glossy orange/red slip. There is a rivet hole in the top of the ovolo which is a small, rounded double border with a large rosette tip. Neat border below and ivy entwined between two rings. S299 is a bowl sherd possibly from the same vessel as 298 above. A divided panel. Upper, large plain double festoon from large astragalus. Below - vertical divisions - on left, a narrow panel of 'S's, in the middle a small nude man, dancing (Oswald 660)

Dr 37 is a hemispherical decorated bowl
