Wedding dress
Dusty pink crepe dress, worn as a wedding dress with matching bolero and hat. Short sleeves, gathered at shoulder, with stiffened shoulder pads. Bodice pleated at front, with stitched in collar. Fastening at back of neck with five covered buttons and crepe fabric loops. Bodice is gathered into fitted yoke at waist, with side zip fastening, and four decorative covered buttons at centrer front. A line, knee length skirt.
Doris Bamford and Colin Berry married on 9 September 1941 at the Congregational Church, Rhos on Sea. Doris wore this simple pink crepe dress with a matching bolero and hat. A notice in the local newspaper described the bride as being "attired in a dress of alpine pink with hat and shoes to match, and wore a spary of roses and white heather." Wartime weddings were usually low-key events, often organized in haste to coincide with a period of leave from the military.
