Welsh costume hat
Tall hat worn by Ellen Lloyd who was frequently depicted on postcards in Welsh costume.
Wide crown, only slightly tapering. Broad brim. Covered with long napped black beaver silk fabric. Many old repairs. Crown dented and brim very floppy. Coated felt construction under silk plush. Inner lining band of black cotton/silk ribbed fabric. Later replacement black satin ribbon hat band. Very fragile condition.
