Early Medieval copper alloy strip

Fragment of bronze strip ornamented with a running chevron pattern reserved against a background of Champleve enamel (marked by vertical hatching). The present colour of the enamel is green , but this may be the result of decay. While the left- hand end of the strip is clearly fractured, the right-hand end may be original. Running chevron patterns picked out in enamel may be found, for instance, on some Romano-British trumpet brooches; but this piece is clearly not from a brooch. It could wellbe from a bracelet, but I (Alcock) have found no good parallels.
