Mug, black basalt, inset base, cylindrical sides tapering inwards towards the top, square-shouldered loop handle; printed with a decoration in gilt with to one side of the body a Welsh dragon enclosed by a wreath of leaves and with the inscription "GOD BLESS / THE PRINCE OF WALES" printed around it, to the other side the Prince of Wales feathers enclosed by a wreath of leaves and with the inscription "JULY 1969 / ICH DIEN / CAERNARVON" printed around it, gilt lines around the foot-rim and exterior lip-rim, a band of leaves to the handle, the interior of the mug glazed.
