Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
One of the early 16th century carved support panels belonging to Sir Rhys ap Thomas bedstead and depicting the military exploits of Sir Rhys including: two knights jousting and a man armed with a spear standing between them; the knight on the right has his horse at a walk, and is receiving the assault of his adversary, whose horse gallops at the charge, although on the ground lies the cast iron shoe from the leg of his horse; to the left of the knights are two figures, one armed with bow and arrow, the other armed with cross-bow; to the right of the knights are three figures - the first two are armed and the third appears to be holding a tabor and behind him is an object like a lanthorn on a post; in the background is the Knight of the Garter motif and the Tudor rose.
It is possible that the carvings depict the celebrations of the Honour of the Knight of the Garter held at Carew Castle in 1506
