Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
WOOLLEN CANVAS, embroidered with coloured silks in cross stitch. Various detached designs, including roses, tulips, conventional trees, peacocks, dogs, cats, butterflies, crowns and a house, all symmetrically arranged around the following verse:
"Tis religion that can give / Sweetest pleasures while we live / Tis religion must supply / Solid comfort when we die / After death its joys will be / Lasting as eternity / Be the living God my friend / Then My bliss shall never end"
At the bottom, beneath a horizontal floral wavy stem, is the inscription: "Margaret Jones her work at A. P. Joness School Builth Breconshire”. There is a border of stelliform design. About 1820-30.
