Banner made from a single piece of fine un-dyed cotton. Screen printed with an image of a Victoria Cross medal and the inscription 'WELCOME HOME'. Flown in Gendros when soldiers returned home on leave during the war and to celebrate Armistice Day in 1918.

Printed plain weave cotton banner with red, white and blue horizontal panels. The cotton ground is white. Top panel has been printed in red apart from the word WELCOME which is made of the unprinted white cotton ground. Middle white panel contains a printed image (in blue and red) of a wreath with a medal suspended within a Victoria Cross medal. Bottom blue panel has been printed in blue apart from the word HOME which is made of the unprinted white cotton ground. The selvedges run along the upper and lower edges. The side edges have narrow machine stitched double-turnbacks and the upper and lower edges have single turn-backs which have been secured with hand sewn running stitches in red and blue thread. The upper turnback is wide enough to function as a pole sleeve.
