Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
A pendant (hanging) gasoline lamp from David Thomas’ tailor’s workshop in Cross Inn, Ceredigion (moved to the museum in 1988 and opened to the public in 1992). A loop for suspending the lamp is attached to the base of the paraffin reservoir (fount), which is also where the filler nut (?) is located. The unit appears to be made mostly of brass, but chrome/nickel plated on top, much of which has now worn away. The 'collar' (aluminium?) around the burner unit has the following words stamped or engraved on it
MANUFACTURED BY AMERICAN GAS MACHINE CO ALBERT LEA MINN. USA PATENTS PENDING
The collar has three small screw nuts, presumably for holding a globe. The fitting is 600mm long overall; the fount is 165mm dia. and 115 high.
