Figure of Frederick Gordon Manning, white earthenware with a blue tinted crackle glaze, standing on an egg shaped base inscribed in gilt script. Manning in contemporary dress of black shoes, narrow pink trousers, underglaze blue coat with gilt outlining, white shirt, black necktie and hair, standing with right arm hanging by side, holding a white page with black lines in left hand, weight slightly thrown on to left foot and left elbow, the latter supported by a flat topped, rust coloured pillar (the enamel feathered), white ground.
