Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Small circular shield, or buckler, made of iron. From Wrexham, 15th-16th century.
Formed by fixing 9 concentric bands of iron approx. 2cm wide around a bulbous and pointed central boss; 10 concentric rows of brass headed rivets are fixed into the bands; lined with leather held in position by iron bands; the wooden handle is a restoration.
