Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
This scene is Rue Terre Neuve, Meudon and is perhaps taken from the artist’s room on that road. The subjects of Gwen John’s oil paintings are quite limited, being mainly portraits of women and interiors. However, in her drawings and watercolours John explored many different subjects. She frequently drew her surroundings and was drawn to nature, whether close up studies of flowers or views that she enjoyed.
