Portfolio table, burr oak veneered top on mahogany ground, inlaid with ebony and ivory Greek Key border surrounding a central oval reserve of ebony inlaid with ivory figures of Mercury bearing Pandora to Earth after John Flaxman, edged with applied and relief carved half round oak moulding bearing a running pattern of flowers and foliage, containing a mahogany underframe with steel sprung oak risers hinged to it, steel-toothed ratchets with a round knob operating on the front right underside and an inset push button, which enables table top to rise to 45' and rotate through 180'; two short and one long bookrest bolection mouldings in pale oak sit in pairs of location holes reinforced with ebony, with two matching solid black plugs on the top edge; top section screwed and centrally bolted to the leg frame; the two legs a stylised hipped form, comprising a rectangular section oak pillar over finely carved wings into which two ball and claw feet are dowelled, each foot with a recessed brass swivel castor; the legs braced from side to side by a cusped carved stretcher and from front to back with C-scroll brackets, and ornamented at the top with bearded goblin masks.
