Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Cylindrical portion of gold foil, which has been flattened and which is decorated by ridged moulding at one end. The foil is most likely to be from the head of a bone pin. A complete bone pin from Silchester is decorated with a very similar piece of gold foil that encases the head of the pin just below a knobbed terminal (unpublished in Calleva Museum). This example has also received moulded decoration at one end. A published example from Wroxeter is of a similar design to the Silchester pin and it is likely that the Caerleon example is one of the same type (Bushe-Fox 1913, Fig 11, 31).
