Blood circulator

Macaura (Manufacturer)

A vibrator for massaging the body and claimed to improve blood circulation. Similar in shape and design to a hand held drill but with a vibrating circular, flat plate for placing against the patient's body. Turning the side handle makes the small, rounded plate vibrate rapidly. At the other end is a turned wooden handle, black in colour. The casing of the circulator is made of pressed nickel-plated copper alloy, screwed in place. It makes a noisy, rattling sound when used. Its claims to improve blood circulation and alleviate various other conditions such as hysteria were questionable.
