Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Letter [1937] from H.J. Randall (Bridgend) enclosing a catalogue of sale [1917] of the Iscoed Estate, Parish of St. Ishmael, Carmarthenshire. The writer refers especially to Lot 7 in the above catalogue concerning "... Two Freehold Slangs" i.e. being portions of Field No. 486 (Part of Ffynnonynyd Farm) - "There are many instances of this in West Wales and the term Slang is, I think, sometimes used with regard to a narrow strip of land which is entirely fenced off, but I do not know the derivation of the word ..." A copy of I.C.P.'s reply is attached in which he states that "... the same feature is to be found in west Montgomeryshire and I have no doubt that it is also to be found in other districts ..."
