Roman pottery candlestick

Only the upper portion of this candlestick is original, the lower half has been restored in the style of an example from London. At the time of discovery (1950s), pottery candlesticks were rare finds. The socket and rim of the grease-tray are sooty. The candlestick is decorated with three raised circumferential ridges. The material is fairly hard orange-buff ware with a white surface.
