Sauce-tureen, earthenware, round-ended oblong shape, standing on a rounded spreading waisted foot-rim, rounded sides, eight notches to the rim, to either end of the tureen twin solid horizontal handles curving over with a lobed edge, domed cover in the form of a round-ended oblong, slightly flattened around the rim, an indent to the rim at one end of the cover, to the top of the cover a finial in the form of a raised curving scroll; transfer-printed in blue with the 'Colandine' pattern, to the top of the cover and the exterior sides of the tureen a Chinese-style scene with in the foreground a wave-shaped outcrop of rocks from which issues a spreading flowering bush, behind an ornately gabled pagoda and a more simple pagoda from which issues a spreading flowering tree, border to the interior lip-rim of the tureen and the rim of the cover of spreading flowering branches and a fence-like design in a blue ground, the same border pattern repeated on the handles and the finial.
