Sampler

Framed memorial sampler to the memory of the Perry family. Embroidered with names, dates and ages.

CANVAS, embroidered with coloured silks in satin, cross and chain stitches. Between tall leafy stems is the following inscription: "To / the memory of / John Perry, / who departed this life / January, 14th 1845; / Aged 66, years. / Also / his four children. / Thomas Perry. / who departed this life /June 12th 1818, / Aged 17 Months. / Thomas Perry, / who departed this life / August 25th 1838; / Aged 25 years. / Richard Perry, / who departed this life / January 5th 1841; / Aged 25 years. / Jane Perry, / who departed this life / January 1st 1845; / Aged 23 years. / Man dieth, and wasteth away; yea, man giveth up the / ghost, and then where is he? Job 14th, 10th."
