Stuart-McIvor, Carole (Carole Stuart-McIvor (previously Harwood) was born in Aberdeen, but spent most of her adult life in Wales. Her involvement with the peace movement began in the early 1960s. Aged 16, she was arrested for protesting against nuclear bombs and spent a week at Holloway Prison. Her first visit to the Peace Camp at Greenham Common was on Christmas Eve 1982. A week later, on New Year’s Eve, she was among the 44 women who scaled the barbed wire fence and climbed to the top of the missile silos. This act became one of the most iconic moments of the Greenham protest.)
