Shawl; plain black tabby woven ground (with raised nap) with 7.5cm wide applied border on all 4 sides, which has a twill ground weave with 1-2cm long tufts of flossy black shiny fibres incorporated into the weave; The border has been applied 'face up' to 2 adjacent edges (and a little way up the other 2 edges), whereas the same border has been applied 'face down' to the other 2 edges - this is so that the border would be visible 'face up' on all edges when folded in half for wear; black wool fringe on 4 sides.
