Heptagonal teapot, of blue stoneware (or high-fired earthenware), standing on a heptagonal foot rim, low, squat body, the lower body angular with seven panels, ribbed at shoulder and intersecting with seven panels of more rounded form, making up the upper body, ending in vertical, heptagonal lip rim; the cover, heptagonal with heptagonal finial with peaked knop; the spout curved, terminating with a fantastical bird head with open beak and crested head; the handle ornately scrolled with thumb spur and central banding; the lower panels with raised moulding of flower heads within double c-shaped cartouches and raised fleur-de-lys moulding to the outer edges of the panels; the upper panels with dot and lattice moulding, interspersed with linked flower heads within double c-scrolls and fleur-de-lys; this moulding repeated on the cover, the finial with linked flower heads; the whole of a bright powder-blue coloured body.
