Humane horse killer
Humane horse killer used at Wyndham Colliery, late 19th/early 20th century. The horse was destroyed by extending then pushing hard on the handle, pushing the internal spike (now missing) into the brain through the forehead. Used underground as didn't create a spark. This is an early version of a humane killer, and is not the later 'captive bolt' which is classed as a firearm.
