Dillwyn & Co., Cambrian Pottery (1811 - 1817 and 1824 - 1850)
Plate, earthenware, circular shape, standing on a rounded foot-rim with a raised ridge and two incised rings around it, cushion-moulded sides and spreading rim, a number of raised ribs run from the centre of the well to the rim; transfer-printed in flow blue with to the centre of the well the 'Whampoa' pattern, a chinoiserie-style scene showing in the foreground a number of elaborate pagodas linked by bridges and fences with a spreading willow-like tree hanging over them, in the background further pagodas on islands in an expanse of water, border to the rim of flower heads, foliage and scrolls on a scale blue ground.
