S.S. Anton H. Built 1913 by W. Harkess & Sons Ltd, Middlesbrough with aft machinery by MacColl & Pollock, Sunderland. Launched as S.S. JOHN SHAW for Allen, Adams & Co., Southampton, she was owned by Temple SS Co. Ltd, London between 1921 and 1923, and then by W.A. Phillips of Cardiff from 1923 to 1935. In 1935 she was sold to Hacklin Werner of Björneborg, Finland and renamed ANTON H. Acquired in 1940 by Leth & Co., Hamburg and briefly named MARKIRCH, she was taken over by the German Navy and named ADMIRAL CARL HERING until returned in 1947 to Hacklin Werner bearing the name NINO. Purchased 1949 by Companiade Nav. Tulev S.A., Panama and renamed ALVI. On the 7 January 1956, she struck a mine on a voyage from Soderhamn to Velsen, and sank.
