Ridge tile fragment in gravel-tempered ware. It has a vestigial peak recalling those on medieval roof tiles. Below the vestigial peak are stabbings, again a feature of medieval ridge tiles and probably indented, as here, to facilitate the firing of the thickest part of the tile. This fragment must belong to the very end of the peaked ridge tile tradition and as such seem more likely to belong to the earliest part of the gravel-tempered ware production period.
