Plate of soft-paste porcelain with creamy-white translucency; standing on a tapering footrim with cushion-moulded and curved sides; lobed rim (six small and six large lobes), moulded in relief with scrolls, flowers and tied ribbons; the sides of the well moulded with six grooves; painted with a classical ewer with a fanciful scrolled spout and handle, standing on a pedestal beside a large group of flowers and a butterfly; the rim edged on both sides in gilt, also decorated in gilt with three stylised flower heads, two leaf sprigs and a winged insect.
