Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Standard plano-convex, copper ingot. Stamped with a V on the rim, and LENP indicating the name of the mine lessee.
Site Name: Clenennau, Penmorfa
Notes: The locality name in the departmental documentation simply states "near Penmorfa", a provenance which is repeated in "The Journal of Roman Studies" (1954) Vol.44, P.106 and in R.F. Tylecote's "Metallurgy in Archaeology" (1962) p.32, table 9. The specific reference to the farm of Clenennau, which lies approximately 2½ kilometres to the north-west of Penmorfa, is in RCAHM Caernarvonshire, Volume II, p.lix, no.136 in the table. The source of information for this provenance is not known. The NGR stated above is also taken from the RCAHM.
