Rectangular storage box painted dark brown. The storage box was used in one of Dinorwig Quarry’s office - possibly for storing paper messages.
This storage box was removed from one of the quarry offices located in the Braich section of Dinorwig Quarry. The Braich section of Dinorwig Quarry was divided into four areas - Wellington Isaf (Lower Wellington), Wellington Uchaf (Upper Wellington), Victoria Isaf (Lower Victoria), and Victoria Uchaf (Upper Victoria). The pay tins tray was removed from the Quarry Office at Wellington Isaf (Lower Wellington), located near the Muriau mill. The buildings in this area of Dinorwig Quarry no longer exist, as the area was re-developed during the building of the hydro electric power station during the 1970’s.
The donor inherited the storage box when he purchased ‘Congl y Mynydd’, Dinorwig. The box had been left in the house by the previous owners, Mr a Mrs Jopling. Mr a Mrs Jopling actively rescued items from Dinorwig Quarry during the late 1960’s / early 1970’s. They donated a number of paper based objects e.g. ledgers, to Gwynedd Archives Services in Caernarfon.
