Jug, salt-glazed stoneware, silver-gilt mounts, the jug, standing on a spreading stepped foot of silver-gilt, stoneware body, globular, cylindrical neck with raised rib at base; slightly grooved strap handle; the body with an orangey-brown orange peel effect glaze; the upper mount of silver-gilt forming collar around upper neck, domed cover with radial patterned finial, reel form knop, upright thumb piece of a crowned lion's head with the inscription' A L' below, box form with cross hatched engraving supporting hinge, issuing acanthus leaf decorated tabs; the foot rim chased with strapwork and flowers and fruit with a foliate upper rim; the collar with alternating lion heads and other masks within ornate cartouches, interspersed with flowers and fruit, similar moulding to the cover radiating around the finial.
