Shoeing box
Most blacksmiths spent a large part of their time shoeing vast numbers of horses which were needed on farms. The shoeing box held the assorted tools used for cleaning and preparing the hoof, holding the shoe in position and hammering in and securing the nails. These were kept in the seperate compartment at the top of the box.
