Early Medieval human remains

These are the poorly preserved remains of an inhumation burial of an older child (9.5-14.5 years).

The burial is from Burial Phase J: 774-1115 AD

They were buried in a unique double grave. Multiple graves are unusual in the Five Mile Lane cemetary with only five double burials and one with possibly more. This child, SK64, was buried with an unsexed adult SK65. SK65 was placed on their back in an extended supine position with their legs slightly flexed to the right. Child SK64 was then laid resting on top of the torso of adult SK65 with their arms crossed and their head resting beneath the chin of SK65. SK65's arms are flexed as though they were arranged to cradle the head of child SK64. This seems to indicate a close bond between the adult and child. No grave goods were recovered from the burial.
