The Pocket RLS (Robert Louis Stevenson) given to Kate Williams Evans by her sister Margaret on 1 October 1909 (Kate's 43rd birthday), and kept by Kate during her imprisonment at Holloway in 1912. Signed by suffrage campaigners including Mrs Pankhurst, Emily Wilding Davison and Sarah Benett.
Kate Williams Evans, born in Montgomeryshire in 1866, was sentenced to 2 months hard labour for malicious damage, having smashed a window in a government building in London. She served 54 days in Holloway Prison in March-April 1912, during which she went on hunger strike.
