Welsh costume illustration
Coloured aquatint by W. H. Pyne, dated 1808. It is similar to that which appears in his book 'British Costumes' showing Welsh women washing clothes on stones by a river. One woman is using a washing bat, wearing blue apron, blue and white striped gown and white cap; the other is wearing a buff skirt and blue short gown, with red kerchief and brown hat.
