Wedding dress

Ivory wedding dress. Worn by Sian V. Poole (nee Meredith) on her wedding to Mark A. Poole on 27 October 2007 at St Mary's Church, Marshfield. Purchased from Confetti & Lace Ltd, Festival Park Shopping Village, Ebbw Vale, on 14 October 2006.

Made from polyester satin with an overlay of polyester gauze. The dress is a simple fitted design with a corset style strapless bodice which tapers to a v-shape to the proper-left side and is fastened with an invisible zip at the centre back. The bodice is made in seven panels is lined plain woven polyester and stiffened with iron-on interfacing. There are two white elastic straps on the inside which fasten with hooks and eyes. The bodice is embellished with beading consisting of clear, silver and faux pearl beads and clear, white and metallic sequins forming a trailing floral and leaf design. A covered ivory button has been sewn at the back of the bodice to hook up the train. The skirt is made in five sections with a larger panel at the front. It falls from the hips to the floor and forms a train at the back. Part of the gauze is gathered where the bodice tapers and is decorated with beads. The hem is finished with over-locking stitch. There is a label on the skirt lining which reads: ‘ELLIS 11005A NAME AUDREY 14 IVORY NAME £600’. There are loops to hang the dress up at the sides of the bodice and one on the lining of the skirt to hold the train up.
