Plate, creamware, circular shape with flat base, curving sides and spreading rim, the rim lobed; crudely painted in polychrome enamels with to the centre of the well a scene known as 'The Return of the Prodigal Son', a male figure kneels in front of three standing male figures and a standing female figure, three of the male figures wear wigs and the female figure wears a large black bonnet, in the background are pillars and tassels, a circular border around the scene of iron-red feathery foliage, to the rim below the scene is the inscription "ZYN. BEROUW,", border to the rim in green, red, brown and yellow of scrolling foliage and stylized foliate motifs.
