Photograph of cremation of Dr William Price, 31 January 1893 at Llantrisant. The pyre was of stone and brick fuelled by coal and timber. It was designed to burn the body without exposing the coffin to watchers. It was an iron coffin, with holes for flames to enter, and twelve bearers carried it to the pyre. When the fire cooled, souvenir hunters picked up pieces of the coffin which had shattered.
