Pot-lid, earthenware, circular shape with cylindrical flange and convex top; the upperside of the lid decorated with an underglaze polychrome transfer-print of 'The Fair Sportswoman' (although this title is not recorded on the lid), showing a rural setting with a female figure sitting under a tree holding a gun and with two dead birds besides her, to one side of the woman stands a male figure holding two dogs ona lease, in the background another male figure holds the bridle of a horse, the scene extends to the edges of the lid and there is no border. The upperside of the lid scratched and worn with extensive chipping to the rim of the flange.
