Jacket

Primark

Denim jacket with various patches (including Leatherman Cymru) and badges on it, and words ‘Protect Trans Lives’ on the reverse. Worn at various events and protests.

Dark grey, long-sleeved denim jacket; pockets on either side of chest and hips. Chest pockets have flaps with metal button fastening. Hip pockets are lined with black tabby woven fabric. 6 metal button fastening down centre front. One metal button at each cuff. Four metal buttons on rear hem to adjust width of jacket.

The jacket has a painted inscription diagonally across the back: PROTECT TRANS LIVES in white, pink, blue and red paint. The 'T' of the word 'TRANS' appears to have been painted over using black paint.

One fabric badge on upper right sleeve: machine embroidered white skull on black synthetic twill background. Edge bound with black synthetic thread.

Three fabric badges on left sleeve. Top: 'DOG HANDLER' machine embroidered onto dark green synthetic twill ground; edges bound with black synthetic thread. Middle: Badge of white tabby woven fabric, machine embroidered with LEATHERMEN CYMRU in black synthetic thread curling around a central image of a red Welsh dragon; surrounded by coiled border embroidered in white and black; edge of badge is bound with black synthetic thread. Bottom badge is a woven flag of the United States; edges bound in blue synthetic thread. All badges are stitched on by hand.

Three pin badges attached above left chest. One square enamel badge in the transgender colours of light blue, pink and white with the wording in black of 'PROTECT TRANS LIVES', two circular pin badges with white wording against a rainbow background. Wording on first circular badge reads: 'YES I am and NO you can't watch Cara-Friend' printed against a diagonally arranged rainbow background; reverse is made from metal. Second circular badge has the National Trust logo against a horizontally arranged rainbow background; reverse is made from white plastic.

Across the left shoulder there are a number of metal studs. They consist of a lower section which has a Phillips screw head at its base and a part that passes through the fabric, which is fitted with a thread. The upper section of the stud consists of a conical spike which screws onto the lower section, which can be tightened using a screw driver. There are 30 studs on the back and 27 on the front (on either side of the shoulder seam). Of the ones on the back, three have lost the upper conical section and one stud is missing altogether.
