Model of surface arrangements at Oakdale Colliery. Used to be in Colliery offices. The model dates to about 1957 before the mechanical lift between the colliery yard and the pithead baths was installed (the model just shows steep steps). It places the colliery arrangements within the landscape and shows how it was rather ‘hidden away’ from the Oakdale planned village. It was actually built in a disused quarry so it could not be seen even from the local school which is shown on the model.
