¾ Starboard stern view of S.S. PACIFIC IMPORTER, 1948.

PACIFIC IMPORTER (7219gt) : Launched as JOHN TIPTON but completed 1943 by California Shipbuilding Corporation, Los Angeles (engine by Joshua Hendy Ironworks, Sunnyvale, California), as SAMTREDY for MoWT, managed by Prince Line Ltd., London. 1947 – Sold to Furness Withy & Co., London and renamed PACIFIC IMPORTER. 1953 – Sold to Ditta Luigi Pittaluga Vapori, Genoa (Italian flag), and renamed AQUITANIA. 1965 – Sold to Akrotiri Steamship Corp.,(Liberian flag), and renamed AYIA MARINA, managed by Cape Shipping Ltd., New York . 1968 – Laid up at Rio de Janeiro. She was seized as debt reparations and broken up at Rio de Janeiro in 1969.
