Digital photograph of a painting of the iron barque ILLIMANI. The orignal painting is by Alexander Branden, a British ship portraitist based at Falmouth, who must have visited Swansea to paint so detailed a scene.
The ILLIMANI was a 630 gross ton iron barque built by Dobie’s of Govan for Burgess & Co. of Swansea in 1875. She was sold to W.E. Jones of Swansea in 1889 and to French owners in 1896. She was eventually broken-up at Boulogne in 1912.
