Lapel badge

Fattorini, T. (Manufacturer)

Gold (9 carat) badge in square blue box. Badge is cast in shape of Princ of Wales Plumes, crown and 'Ich dien' motto plus scroll with 'W.F.C'. On reverse: Maker's print and metal marks. Half crescent/horseshoe shaped protrusion on reverse of badge to be inserted through buttonhole on lapel.

Badge is placed loosely onto blue velvet padded base of box. Sides of box are padded with strip of card, covered with velvet. Box closes on a sprung hinge mechanism which is covered on inside with velvet. Inside of lid is padded out and covered with white satin. Maker's stamp printed onto satin. Box itself is probably plastic (?) covered in layer of blue mock-leather. Outside of lid has square outline in silver (printed or painted).
