Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Finely cast handle strap with three rounded ribs separated by wide flat grooves. Bordered by prominent flaring flages, one of which is damaged. Attachement plates are entirley confined to flanges and and 9.2-10.2mm wide. Strap is semi-circular in section and approximately 13.5mm high internally. The underside of the two outer ribs is corrugated. Both of the attachment plates are entirely obscured on the upper surfaces by cast rod plates with flat upper surfaces which follow the contours of the ribs and grooves. One the reverse of one attachment plate, two rod stubs project through rivet holes, with a thris hole not being used. On the reverse of the attachment plate tree rod stubs project through rivet holes. This belongs to a Class B2 cauldron of Type Battersea, with parallels at Battersea, Broom and Ipswich.
