Samian bowl sherds, form Dr37. S220 is a Southern Gaulish pink ware base with a glossy red slip. There is no visible decoration. S221 is a Southern Gaulish pink ware sherd with quite a good red slip. There is a small ovolo with triffid-tip tongue. Festoons. S222 is similar to S221 but the gloss is poor. There is a border of rather small S-godroons. There is part of a panel with diagonal wavy lines and an animal over grass. S223 is a very small sherd of Central Gaul. Rather pale ware and orange/red slip. High relief with a vertical arrangement of the anchor motif.
Dr 37 is a hemispherical decorated bowl

Notes: Field adjoins the south-west side of the legionary fortress : 'A' material is from Courtyard House (Civil Settlement). Context: at 80 in mixed loam and occupation next on natural clay. Pre-stone.
