Archaeological excavation at Hafod foundry, Swansea, 21 August 2015. Looking ESE at the stratigraphy of the ground adjoining the casting pit shown in 2015.80/8 on its SE side. Note the great depth of imported free-draining yellow sand overlying natural river gravels, and also the various darker cuts into the upper portion of the yellow sand, representing moulding work within the floor of the iron foundry over the course of its working life.
