Site Name: Llanbethery, Pant-y-Coed
Notes: In September 1957, Mr Leonard Borlase, a ploughman, reported the discovery of several Constantinian bronze coins in a field west of Pantycoed, Llanberthery, near Barry. Subsequent investigations with a mine detector revealed the mass of the hoard still in place, contained in the lower part of a grey pottery vessel. Although some coins ended up in private hands, the bulk of the hoard, some 811 coins, were recovered, and are now held by the NMGW.
