Medieval / Post-Medieval iron spade

Medieval iron spade blade/iron. U-shaped form and near-complete, missing one securing lug and part of the blade. The spade iron was secured to the wooden spade with a groove, now damaged running on the interior of the iron and by the inward-facing lugs at the apex. There is no suggestion of attachment rivet holes on the side arms. The outside edge of the spade iron is rounded and convex and the damaged blade is arched and slender. The front face has a gentle concavity across its width.
