Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
This bead is of an annular or globular form from the Iron Age or Roman Eras.
The glass is dark blue or 'black' and has a yellow scrawl.
Its form is irregular, flat and wide at one end and moderately rounded at the other. Its surface is uneven with flattened or faceted areas. It's decorated with a raised undulating yellow irregular trail or scrawl, now yellow-grey.
This kind of bead was used from the Iron through the Roman Age. It best conforms to Guido's Group 5Dii (Guido, 1978, p.62-30) A similar bead was found in Mildenhall, England, which is broadly a Roman site. (Guido, 1978, p.138, gig 21.6)
