Plaque

Unknown (Factory)

Wall plaque, earthenware, rectangular tray-shaped form with flat base and curving flaring sides, the rim moulded with raised foliate scrolls, a shaped edge to the rim, to the top of the centre of the well are two pierced holes for suspension; to the centre of the well is transfer-printed in black the inscription "But man dieth. / and wasteth away: / yea, man giveth up / the Ghost and / where is he. / Job II-III", the inscription enclosed by a wreath of flowers and foliage, the sides of the plaque covered with a splashed pink lustre.
